Bigger Fish To Fry

After the pond fishing with the kids, my brother wanted to actually catch some fish that would be better in your belly.  So the scheme was hatched to do some night fishing in Lake Pontchartrain.  The bait stand closes at 4pm, but I couldn’t leave until 5, so they went ahead without me.  Honestly, I was thinking about not even going, but then the texts started.  “Can you bring some water?” “Can you bring some flashlights?”

Now I am tied in and have to go because you can’t fish at night without flashlights.  Really, the question posed to me was, “Can you drive yourself?”  That doesn’t equate to “Are you going?”  I was probably going to go anyway.

So we make our way to Lake Pontchartrain in the boat and find ourselves a nice spot.  The fish were biting and so were the mosquitoes.  I am covered in bites today.  I caught one redfish, but it was under the limit, so he had to be thrown back.  My dad caught the most fish, but my youngest brother caught the largest two fish.  My middle brother managed to land a croaker that was a keeper.  He caught a redfish that was under limit as well.

All in all, it was a pretty successful trip.  I remember now why I don’t like fishing, but at least there is some good eating around the corner.
